Pepperoni Pizza: Oops! I did it again

Friday night is pizza night at our house, although I’m on a string of bad luck in the pizza oven department. One night the entire thing plopped on the floor. This version, blackened as it is, was the result of using olive oil to grease my pan. Which I then placed into a 500° oven. I know. Olive oil and high temps don’t mix, but at the time I was thinking how Italian I was! How creative!

Since moving to our new house, I’ve bought a pizza stone, some parchment paper and one of those cool pizza paddle things. I’ve discussed pizza with folks from Williams-Sonoma, Sur La Table, and my friend Elizabeth, who loves pizza so much she installed a real wood-fired oven in her yard. So tonight I’ll give it another go; I think I’ve got my new oven mastered. Almost.

Third time’s a charm. Stay tuned….

Good luck! There is nothing sadder than dropping something on the floor after pulling it out of your oven. I worry about it everytime!

    • Thank you, I need all the luck I can get with this pizza! Not sure why it’s not working out for me, I guess it’s just me getting used to the new kitchen. I’m almost afraid to try again, but my family will all be here Friday and they’re requesting pizza, so I’ll let you know how it goes.

The pizza stone will definitely cure the bad mojo. But don’t forget to sandwich a sprinkling of corn meal between the stone and the pizza.

    • Thanks for stopping by! I will definitely employ your cornmeal advice. Do you make pizza at home? We can do a pizza party for the girls!
